Hypnotherapy explained
Hypnosis is a naturally occuring state of mind we all go into every day e.g. when you are daydreaming, watching television, reading a book etc.
Everyone goes into hypnotic states every day.
When you are in a hypnotic state you conscious mind is not so alert. You could be engrossed in a book and totally unaware when someone tries to get your attention. You are not consciously so aware of them.
Clinical Hypnotherapy uses this phenomenon as when your conscious mind is not so alert your subconscious mind is more accessible and suggestions given by a hypnotherapist are more likely to be accepted. Your hypnotherapist will help you become more relaxed using suggestions, words and visualisations.
You will only accept suggestions that are right for you. You are in total control.
It is estimated that 85% of people will readily respond to clinical hypnotherapy and it may even succeed where other more conventional methods of treatment have been slow to produce the desired results.
When carried out by a professionally trained and skilled hypnotherapist, the benefits are usually long lasting and often permanent. It is completely natural and safe, with no harmful side effects.

FAQ about Hypnosis
-
Q:What is the typical cost of a professional hypnotherapy session, and how many will I need?A: Private Sessions with Johan vary depending on the programme. See this page for programmes , the most behavioural issues—such as smoking cessation, weight loss, phobias, or public speaking anxiety—require at least 3 sessions for sustained results. Complex or chronic conditions like deep-seated trauma or severe anxiety disorders may require an ongoing treatment plan.
- Q: How does hypnotherapy work to change habits or thoughts in the brain?
- A: Hypnotherapy works by temporarily bypassing the critical conscious mind to access the subconscious mind, where your automatic habits, emotional memories, and belief systems are stored. By guiding the brain into a relaxed state a hypnotherapist can introduce positive suggestions and cognitive reframing that rewrite old, unhelpful behaviour

- A: Absolutely not You cannot be forced to do anything against your moral code, nor will you reveal private information involuntarily.
- Can anyone be hypnotised?

- Can you get stuck in hypnosis?
- A:No, you are in total control.
- What does it feel like to be hypnotised? –
- A: This can vary from person to person. Som people feel deeply relaxed, other people may feel light relaxation, there is no right or wrong way to feel. When you are relaxed you are more focused on your inner world.
- What happens at a session of hypnotherapy?
- A:Sessions usually last around an hour and a half, so there is plenty of time for you to feel relaxed and comfortable and to ask as many questions you like. A case history is taken and we will decide together what methods will suit your particular needs. Subsequent sessions will follow and will be tailored to suit your needs.

Q: Are the results of hypnotherapy permanent, and how long do the effects last?A: Yes, the behavioural and emotional changes achieved through hypnotherapy can be entirely permanent, as the process fundamentally alters your underlying neural pathways. For example, once your subconscious deeply accepts that you are a non-smoker, you no longer have to fight the urge to smokeHowever, maintaining these results depends heavily on your genuine desire to change and whether you continue to reinforce your new habits in everyday life.
- Johan uses a Hypnocom which blocks out distracting sounds and noises and really enhances the hypnotherapy experience. It involves wearing a headset so that you hear your therapists voice mixed with background music, a whole new relaxing experience!
