TOO MUCH STRESS IS AN ENEMY OF THE MENOPAUSE
One of the body’s biggest enemies in the menopause is stress.
When your body is stressed it uses progesterone to manufacture the stress hormone cortisol and this in turn leaves us with an excess of oestrogen.
This excess could cause symptoms such as heavy painful periods, weight gain and fluid retention. It may also contribute to conditions such as fibroids and exacerbate endometriosis and fibrocystic breasts.
Excess oestrogen can also cause mood swings
One solution to balance your hormones is to de-stress your body with some kind of relaxation like hypnosis or exercise.
What other things can cause excessive oestrogen?
Obesity: Having excess body weight can result in higher amounts of estrogen due to the fact that fat tissue produces oestrogen.
